      Popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly opened venture, Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, was the target of a shooting incident on July 9, 2025. Reports indicate that multiple shots were fired at the building housing the cafe.
      Authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported during the attack, despite staff members being present inside the establishment at the time.
      The attack has been claimed by Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi, allegedly in retaliation for remarks made on “The Kapil Sharma Show” regarding Nihang Sikhs.
      While Kapil Sharma was not at the cafe during the incident, the news has caused concern among his fans and the entertainment industry. Following the attack, security has been increased at Kapil Sharma’s residence in Mumbai.
      Kapil Sharma and Kap’s Cafe Respond with Resilience
      Kapil Sharma’s team and the cafe’s management have released a statement via the cafe’s Instagram account. The message expressed shock and heartbreak over the violence, but emphasized a commitment to standing firm against it.
      The statement read, “We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up.” The cafe also extended gratitude for the support received from well-wishers and the prompt response of local police.
