      The UK has launched a new e-visa facility for Pakistanis, replacing the physical sticker visa in passports for most applicants. This change came into effect on July 15, 2025.

      The Pakistanis who will benefit from this new facility are primarily main applicants for study or work-related visas that involve a stay of longer than six months.

      Specifically, the e-visa is being rolled out for main applicants in the following categories:

      • Students, including short-term study for 11 months.
      • Global Business Mobility routes (specifically, Senior or Specialist Worker, Graduate Trainee, UK Expansion Worker, Service Supplier, Secondment Worker).
      • Global Talent.
      • International Sportsperson.
      • Skilled Worker (including Health and Care).
      • Temporary Work routes (specifically, Charity Worker, Creative Worker, Government Authorised Exchange, International Agreement, and Religious work routes).
      • Youth Mobility Scheme.

      This means that these individuals will no longer receive a physical visa sticker in their passports. Instead, their immigration status will be a digital record, accessible through an online UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. This change aims to make the visa process simpler, more secure, and allows applicants to retain their passports during the application process.

      Who will still need a physical sticker visa?

      • Dependants applying under any visa route.
      • Main applicants for visas other than study or work, such as general visitor visas.

      It’s also important to note that anyone with existing, in-date physical visa stickers does not need to take any action; their current visa remains valid. The UK government plans to eventually roll out e-visas to all visa routes in the future.
