Deactivating your Facebook account temporarily means your profile and information will be hidden, but you can reactivate it later. Here’s how to deactivate your Facebook account:
- Log In: Go to Facebook (facebook.com) and log in to your account if you aren’t already logged in.
- Account Settings: Click on the downward-facing arrow in the top right corner of your Facebook homepage to access the account menu. Then, select “Settings & Privacy” and choose “Settings.”
- Deactivation: In the left sidebar, click on “Your Facebook Information.”
- Deactivate Account: Under the “Deactivation and Deletion” section, click on “Deactivation.”
- Reason for Leaving: You’ll be prompted to specify why you’re deactivating your account. You can choose a reason from the list or write your own. Optionally, you can also opt out of receiving future emails from Facebook.
- Confirm: Click the “Continue to Account Deactivation” button.
- Password Confirmation: Enter your Facebook password to confirm your identity.
- Deactivate: Click the “Deactivate Now” button.
Once you’ve completed these steps, your Facebook account will be deactivated. Keep in mind that while your account is deactivated, your profile and information are hidden from other users, but Facebook retains your data. If you ever want to reactivate your account, simply log in with your email and password, and your account will be restored.
